On a chilly spring day in 2020, I set to work making this ephemeral piece inspired by Andy Goldsworthy's work. I cut the branches to size, and, starting from the top, attempted to use the tree's tension alone to hold the branches. Of course, as I neared the end, the insertions themselves were pushing the host branch away, and my parasites fell indiscriminately. Sweating, I finally got it to a steady state that lasted all of a few hours. More lasting were the poison ivy rashes I got from the nascent sprouts that I didn't notice, in their youth. It was all worth it, every golden moment in the sun.
